AEE_logoIf you’re interested in advancing your career in outdoor and adventure-based experiential education, you really should attend one of AEE’s 2014 regional conferences. AEE (which stands for Association for Experiential Education) is a professional membership association with roots in adventure education that’s committed to the development, practice, and evaluation of experiential learning in all settings. And the organization’s regional conferences – which take place each spring between March and May – offer truly awesome and exceptional professional development opportunities for outdoor and adventure-based educators.

For those of us who work at The National Center for Outdoor & Adventure Education (NCOAE), AEE’s lineup of regional conferences offers us the opportunity to:

  • Network with others in our field
  • Expand our understanding of topics related to the work we perform
  • Stimulate our professional curiosity and programmatic creativity
  • See lots of old friends and colleagues
  • Make new friends (enough to last a lifetime)

This year, AEE is offering spring conferences in seven geographical regions across the U.S., including:

Mid-Atlantic: March 28-30, 2014 – Radford, Virginia

Heartland Student Summit: April 3-5, 2014 – Makanda, Illinois

Southeast: April 11-13, 2014 – Blowing Rock, North Carolina

Northeast: April 25-27, 2014 – Colebrook, Connecticut

Rocky Mountain: April 25-26, 2014 – Prescott, Arizona

West: May 2-4, 2014 – Chico, California

Northwest: May 16-18, 2014 – Gig Harbor, Washington

The cost of attending AEE’s regional conferences tends to be fairly low, allowing as many people as possible to benefit from attending. As for us, we’ll be attending either the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference (March 28-30) in Radford, VA, or the Southeast event (April 11-13) in Blowing Rock, NC. Either way, our staff will be present and available to soak it all in, including the nighttime activities, which tend to be remarkable.
