Field Instructor — WFR
Danny Callaway, a former University of North Carolina at Wilmington backpacking guide and instructor, is now an NCOAE field instructor.
To say Danny’s work background is varied would be an understatement. He has worked as a backpacking, hiking and fitness instructor for Front Range Community College in Colorado; an adventure instructor for Colorado Mountain Ranch; a backcountry guide for at-risk youth Horizons for Youth outside of Boston; an account’s manager for a marine and trailer supply company; and, an independent insurance agent.
Danny attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., where he studied biology, graduating in 1992. Later he attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he received a Master’s degree in teaching, specializing in physical education and health.
A certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Danny is a member of the International Honor Society in Education, and Kappa Delta Pi. His hobbies including backpacking, hiking, biking, swimming, tennis, basketball, reading, and playing outdoors with his son.
