Wesley Hawkins
Field Instructor — WFR
On his list of qualifications for being an assistant instructor here at NCOAE, Wesley Hawkins can list tons of experience in backpacking, rock climbing, whitewater canoeing and camp craft. And those don’t even take into account his hobbies. For that, you’d also have to list surfing, mountain biking, basketball, flag football, softball — and Ultimate Frisbee.
Wesley comes to us from the Calleva Outdoor Adventures in Poolesville, Maryland, where he was a head counselor before moving into assistant and lead instructor roles with that program. He’s affiliated with a number of professional organizations, including the American Canoe Association, the American Camp Association and Leave No Trace.
His professional certifications include, Leave No Trace Trainer, and American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED/Epinephrine. In addition, he has credentials in Wilderness First Aid and holds a Wilderness First Responder certification.
A graduate of Georgia College and State University, Wesley majored in outdoor education with a minor in business administration.
