No prior medical experience is necessary to enroll in the EMT training. The course is designed to provide all the foundational knowledge and skills needed to become a certified EMT, starting from the basics.
HOW DOES THE 11-DAY IN PERSON PRACTICAL SKILLS TRAINING WORK?
The 11 days of fully in person hands on training is dedicated to EMT skills assessments, where you’ll practice and demonstrate your proficiency in practical EMT skills. You will also complete the required number of clinical hours/shifts during the 11 day practical portion of the course.
IS THERE ANY SUPPORT AVAILABLE IF I HAVE QUESTIONS OR NEED HELP DURING THE COURSE?
Yes, NCOAE provides support throughout the course. You’ll have access to instructors via email and discussion forums, and there are scheduled office hours for live virtual assistance if needed.
WILL I COMPLETE THE NATIONAL REGISTRY (NREMT) EXAM BEFORE LEAVING NCOAE?
No. EMS educational institutes across the country are not legally permitted to administer this exam. To take the National Registry exam, you must create a profile on the NREMT website and submit an application for certification as an EMT. Upon successful completion of your initial EMT training, NCOAE will verify your application and you will receive an Authorization To Test (ATT) explaining how to schedule your exam. NCOAE will help guide you through this process during your training.
DOES TUITION COVER THE COST OF THE NREMT EXAM?
No. Not everyone decides to take the NREMT exam, therefore it is not included in the cost of tuition.
HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I EXPECT TO SPEND ON COURSEWORK EACH WEEK?
On average, participants should plan to dedicate 10-15 hours per week to complete the online coursework. However, since the program is self-paced, you can adjust this based on your schedule and learning style.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED MORE THAN 7 WEEKS TO COMPLETE THE COURSE?
While the course is structured to be completed in 7 weeks, students can request extensions if needed. However, only in the most extreme circumstance could NCOAE grant the extension.
